Criminal Parole:

Parole is the conditional release of a prisoner before their incarceration sentence is completed. A prisoner is eligible for parole depending on state laws and the situation they are in.

Offenders are supervised and monitored during parole. The conditions they need to abide by while under parole are often strict. Some conditions dictate where they can live or work, who they can speak to, etc. Those under parole may be restricted from travel and from going to certain public places such as schools. They must also fulfill the requirement of attending psychological counseling, drug/alcohol programs, and more.

When a parole violation occurs, the offender is given an opportunity to appear in court for a final hearing. If the offender is convicted of a new offense, the parole is revoked without a hearing.
