Adopting a child The act of assuming the responsibilities and rights of a child/children whose parents have voluntarily relieved their parental responsibilities.
Child Abuse/Spousal Abuse Any legal matter involving intentional physical or mental abuse of a child or minor, or a spouse by a parent or guardian, or another spouse.
Child Custody Any legal matter that concerns the rights and responsibilities of the biological parents to their child(ren), and court ordered legal guardians to the child(ren).
Child Support Any legal matter that relates to the financial support of a child or minor by the biological parent, and/or legal guardians
Child Visitation Rights The rights of the biological parent(s)or legal guardian (s) concerning the visitation rights with their child(ren).

Marriage Annulment The ruling of the court to put aside a marriage so that it never existed.
Placing a child up for adoption The act of placing a minor child out of the custody of the biological mother/parents and into the custody of a family that is capable of supporting and raising that child.
Premarital/Prenuptial Agreement A legally binding document between two people who intend on getting married. Such agreements stipulate the property and possession of money and objects and who the property belongs to.
Spousal Support/alimony The financial obligation of one person to another who used to be joined in marriage and are no longer able to support themselves alone.
